What is a Hydrosol?After steam or water distillation of a plant, the oil is bled off and becomes an "essential oil." The water remaining from the distillation is called a hydrosol and contains the essence of the plant. A hydrosol can be applied directly to the skin. Hydrosols make great skin toners and sprays, and can be used in masks and lotions where they are valued for their astringent, soothing and rejuvenating qualities. As they are derived directly from the plant they also have a "grounding" effect. Tip: The 2 oz size is perfect for use as a refresher for travelling and can be carried on board an airplane.
